Ethan

I build practical AI-assisted and data-driven systems, combining full-stack development, workflow design, and real-world healthcare IT experience.

Auckland, New Zealand · 4+ years in healthcare IT · AI and data systems

Overview

I came into software through healthcare IT, where systems had to support clinical work, reporting, infrastructure, and security without disrupting daily operations. That experience made reliability, workflow clarity, and clear ownership practical requirements rather than abstract engineering ideas.

Since beginning graduate study in Auckland, I have worked across product, analytical, and application builds. The same approach ties that work together: define the workflow clearly, keep decisions traceable, and build systems that fit how people actually work in practice.

Experience

I worked in healthcare IT within a live clinical environment, where systems had to remain reliable while supporting real-world care delivery. My role covered system operations, infrastructure, security, and rollout coordination. It was not just about keeping systems running, but improving workflows, reducing operational friction, and supporting system changes without disrupting clinical work. This experience shaped how I approach systems today, prioritising reliability, clear workflows, and solutions that work in real environments, not just in design.

Gumei Community Health Service Center

Information Specialist, IT and Security Support

Maintained clinical systems, infrastructure, and endpoint environments across the main centre and satellite sites, ensuring system availability in a live healthcare setting.

Clinical Systems and IT Operations

Maintained system reliability across clinical applications, network infrastructure, and endpoint environments. Performed routine monitoring of server workload, storage, disk health, and security dashboards, and handled operational incidents including server failures, network outages, and site connectivity issues. Worked in an environment where system availability directly impacted patient flow and front-line operations, often under time constraints where downtime affected clinical services.

Internal IP Address Management Tool

Designed and deployed an internal IP address management tool using C#/ASP.NET, SQL Server, and IIS to replace spreadsheet-based tracking. The system managed around 900 records and 500+ assets, reduced IP lookup and allocation time from 5–6 minutes to under 1 minute, and brought recurring IP conflicts close to zero. This was an early example of turning operational problems into internal tooling rather than handling them manually.

Clinical System Migration Delivery

Acted as the main business-side coordinator for a clinical system migration from client-server to browser-based architecture. Led pilot rollout, vendor coordination, feedback loops, and go-live support across a three-month period with 13 major iterations. The rollout reduced typical waiting times from around 40 minutes to 20–30 minutes and supported around 33 clinical and administrative staff. Worked across technical teams, vendors, and clinical users to ensure system changes could be delivered and adopted without disrupting real-world operations.

Healthcare IT Systems Delivery

A real-world healthcare IT delivery case covering system operations, infrastructure coordination, internal tooling, and clinical system rollout in a live environment.

Evidence

Improved IP management for around 900 records and 500+ assets, reducing lookup and allocation time from 5–6 minutes to under 1 minute; also supported a clinical migration that reduced typical waiting times from about 40 minutes to 20–30 minutes.

Algo Platform

A local-first desktop coding practice platform integrating problem data, submission workflows, local persistence, API layers, and an in-app assistant.

Evidence

Extended the system beyond a course prototype into a fuller desktop MVP with structured problem and submission workflows, local SQLite persistence, and clearer frontend/backend separation and system structure.
